I have an idea.
After last night’s cloture vote that was supposed to break the Republican filibuster of of the Unemployment Benefit extension bill, Senate Republicans continue to delay passage of the actual bill for as long as they can. See the story on Daily Kos at:
So here’s my idea. If you’re not familiar with Project Lemonade, it’s an organizing strategy that uses organizations’ refusal to stand down against them. For example, our campus LGBTQA groups do Project Lemonade when the insane anti-abortion and anti-homosexual groups come to campus; they ask people to pledge money for every minute, or hour, the opposition remains on campus.
Maybe we need a Project Lemonade effort aimed at the Senate. For every Senator who engages in delay tactics designed to keep this very important vote from happening, decent people pledge campaign contributions to whoever runs against them (whenever they’re up again).
It shouldn’t be hard to figure out who goes on this list; I’m at work and can’t watch C-Span 2 all day, but the Congressional Record is public.
Who’s in?
